Local Service, Lasting Partnerships
Capitol Uniform and Linen Service has always been a small business that can handle big things. We are so proud of our local roots, family ownership, and over 100 years of support from other businesses in our area. For three generations, we’ve proudly served the communities of Dover, Annapolis, Baltimore, and more, from restaurants to hotels, medical facilities, and more. It’s been decades of trust, quality, and genuine connections, and we’re honored to keep that legacy going strong.
Being a family-owned and operated business is something we take seriously. You won’t get lost in the shuffle here - we’re local, we're hands on, and when you work with us, you’ll get to know us by name. Some of our team members have been with us for over 50 years, how many other companies can say that?
Since rebuilding our facility after a fire in 1989, we now process 200,000 pounds of linens and uniforms every week. But for us, it’s not about being the biggest. While others may push or triple that amount, we’re focused on quality over quantity, delivering the personal touch that’s hard to come by these days.
History
We’re proud to have a story that spans over a century. It all started in 1923 when Stuart Outten opened his dry cleaning and dyeing business. His commitment to quality and service quickly made a name for himself among local residents.
In the 1970s, as the needs of our customers changed, we adapted too. We shifted our focus to linen and uniform rentals, making sure that we continued to meet the demands of our community. After the passing of Stuart Sr., his son, E. Stuart Outten Jr., took over the operations in 1972. Under his leadership, business continued to flourish, creating strong relationships with our customers.
Fast forward to 2007, and now it’s the next generation running the show. As we celebrate over 100 years in business, we’re not just looking back at our history; we’re excited about what’s to come. We’ve always believed in growing alongside our customers, staying attuned to their needs, and adapting services to match the changing landscape of the industry. After all, a lot can happen in 100 years, and we’re ready for whatever the next chapter brings!
